Exploring The Ins & Outs Of A Competitive Pay Structure

This presentation examines how implementing a competitive internal pay structure can strengthen an organization’s ability to attract and retain top talent. It outlines the key steps involved in developing a competitive compensation structure and discusses how each step contributes to creating a more strategically aligned organizational approach designed to reduce turnover, enhance employee engagement, and improve long-term retention.


Kevin Cartwright

Kevin Cartwright, SHRM-SCP, is the Director of Compensation Consulting at Intelligent Compensation, LLC. Kevin has been with Intelligent Compensation, LLC since 2016. He works on a variety of consulting assignments for clients all over the United States, as well as internationally, who are seeking to improve or update their compensation strategies and programs. These assignments include, but are not limited to, Base and Total Cash Market Studies, Developing Pay Structures and Incentive Compensation Plans, Executive and Total Compensation Studies, and Historical Compensation Analysis’.

Outside of Intelligent Compensation, LLC, Kevin volunteers on the Board of Williamson County HR Management Association (WilcoHR) where he currently serves as the 2024 Chapter President. He previously served on the Board of Austin SHRM as VP of Emerging Professionals where he assisted Central Texas Universities and local businesses with improving the professional development of their students and young professionals. He has also been involved with the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network (YNPN) of Austin.

Kevin earned his B.A. from Sam Houston State University. He enjoys spending his free time with his wife and daughter, coaching sports and working with high school students at his church.
